Reforming Demons

Years ago, I had experimented with some “classic” chaos magic praxis about “personal demons”: trying to exorcise those parts of myself that have gone rampant and demonic, negative thoughtforms, etc. As I was talking about this with a friend the other day, I thought I would revisit the topic with the benefit of more experience […] … Continue reading…Reforming Demons

The Name of a Witch

So, I got introduced to the Devil. I started hanging out with the Devil. I got a black lynx familiar spirit. I’ve been getting tons of magical tech that’s, thus far, worked really well. Am I a witch? As these events happened, I didn’t make the immediate connections until a couple of days after when […] … Continue reading…The Name of a Witch

Runes, Sigil Magic, Wyrms

I just finished reading through Stephen Flowers’ Icelandic Magic[1], and I realize that he’s also known as Edred Thorsson (who I’ve read previously in Futhark). And Flowers’ book seems to focus primarily on galðr-derived magic, and I get to the operative parts of the text. The ritual procedure he offers begins with a directional opening […] … Continue reading…Runes, Sigil Magic, Wyrms

My Polytheism

My polytheism recognizes that what we know of the past is grounded in the political—from what was allowed to survive for centuries (or millennia), to how it was recorded (audience, purpose, occasion), to how it has been adapted and historicized and represented today, to how I choose to use it. My polytheism recognizes that the past, that religion, that the present, that texts are always rhetorical—perhaps especially the inspired, channeled, or “spiritual” ones. … Continue reading…My Polytheism

Making Maps, Seeing the Sights

I see how I’m treading over much of the same ground, that I am “inventing wheels.” But…I think I need to do that. Much of my work has involved psychic therapy… Much of it has been exploratory, a process of acclimatization, and practical…I can’t help but see the patriarchal threads throughout many of [these other systems], or the racist threads elsewhere, or the ideologically-driven threads still elsewhere. And in those senses, my resistance to those other systems has been political as I choose how I wish to make and shape myself while working to open myself to other beings (humans and otherwise), to the Otherworlds, to the world, to everything while remaining in authentic contact with the deeper parts of myself. … Continue reading…Making Maps, Seeing the Sights

[NB] Jung & Spare

Reading the intro to Joan Chodorow’s book on Jung’s writings on active imagination (Jung on Active Imagination), & Jung apparently—from my perspective—engaged in inner pathworking, trance projection, etc., using the simple methods Fries has pointed to. Jung sought to frame these experiences as (seemingly) wholly psychological, though he apparently noted the “energy” & pathos unleashed […] … Continue reading…[NB] Jung & Spare

4: Passing as Magical

I spend a lot of time passing—passing as a mature, responsible, knowledgeable adult, passing as a professional, passing as normal in all sorts of ways. When people talk about passing, they normally do so in the context of sexuality, gender, and orientation. We hear about people passing as straight or as cis-gendered, and so on. […] … Continue reading…4: Passing as Magical
